Weekly Roundup 24/03/13: All Grown Up

So there was no weekly roundup last week as I had 2 assignments due. Both of which I failed to start until the week before they were due. Yes, I'm a terrible student, I know.

After my sleep deprived self recovered from said assignments, it was time to get packed up & ready to go home to the Powell Cave for my baby sister's birthday and the final stages of holiday prep.

Obviously the biggest event of the week was Sophie's 18th, which took place on the Friday. Still can't believe that she can now legally go out in to pubs and clubs and get herself a drink.
Naturally as the older sibling I was responsible for taking her out to get her first drink, but before that it was off out for the traditional Powell family birthday meal at Simply Blues.
After an amazing meal it was back home for a quick change and touch up and then off the pub!
I think I gave her a good first night out on the town with the help of some of her friends and luckily escaped without too bad of a hangover on Saturday (although the cooked breakfast & Domino's we had probably helped there).

And as for today it has mostly consisted of holiday sorting, aka me pairing down my clothes so as not to pack my entire wardrobe, and the standard Sunday roast.
As I said before, I shall be working on some posts relating to holiday, travel checklists and the like, so stick around and as always thanks for reading.

Ciao for now!

For all the Mums out there...

Happy Mother's Day :)

Don't Forget - It's not all about gifts or Hallmark cards, it's about letting that special lady in your life know just how much they are loved & appreciated.

I couldn't ask for a better mum myself, she's thoughtful, kind, always knows just what to say. And I absolutely love her for it!

Mummy Powell <3

But why let it just be one day a year...Tell her every day!

12.

Originally I intended this post about Mum's graduation weekend/Disneyland Paris to be a lot more detailed and photo heavy. But unfortunately due to the fact that the Powell's have had a manic week prep-ing for me to go off to uni I just haven't found the time.

So instead here are a few snapshots and a quick summary of the weekend:

Mum's Graduation.
(l-r. Sophie, Mum, Me)

Honestly the most amazing day. So proud watching her go up and be awarded the First Class Honours degree she truly deserved. Definitely shed some tears!
Ceremony was absolutely amazing, so bravo to the OU for that as well.

Disney Paris.

Although the weather wasn't fabulous it was still a fab way to celebrate Mum's graduation/her birthday/my going away.
And hey there was an upside to the bad weather at the start of the day as you can see.
How often is it you get to say you saw a rainbow over the castle at Disneyland?

Again I'm sorry this post is so much shorter than I wanted it to be, but as I've said I'm now off to uni tomorrow.
I'll be leaving my house at 7.45 in the morning to get down to my accommodation for 9am!
I will of course update on my room, freshers, other uni related things etc (after I settle in of course.)

So next time you all hear from me I'll be living in my new uni digs.
Independent living here I come!

So I'm off to France for the next few days to watch my Mum graduation with a First Class Honours Degree in Childhood and Youth Studies with English Literature from The Open University.
I'm unbelievably proud of the woman, I cannot tell you just how proud!

Now above is The Palace of Versailles, right next to where the ceremony will be taking place.
And we'll also be popping over to Disneyland Paris for a day as part of the festivities (yay!)

This post is really just to say that I'll be away for a little while, and therefore not posting, tweeting, etc.
However I do intend to take an absolute buttload (technical term there) of photos/do a tonne of exciting stuff, so expect a big ol' blog post when I return.

Au revoir !

8.

So this should have been a post showing off my wonderful Models Own haul that arrived this morning, but they got my order wrong so it'll be of a mixed post about me dealing with that instead.

We might as well start with my original disappointment over my Models Own order.
So I, like I'm sure a lot of other bloggers did, took full advantage of the 50% off sale code and went a bit mad on the site. (Although my £13 discounted order is nothing compared to the £120 some were spending!)
I eventually placed my order after a few failed attempts due to site issues, and waited for it to arrive.
And today it did. Obviously I hurried to open it, only to find that instead of the Buff Pink I ordered I had been  sent a Snow White polish. Not impressed.

Obviously I went straight to my email and sent them a polite yet firm complaint about my disappointment.
I was actually very pleased to receive such a quick response, in which they offered to send me a replacement Buff Pink as well as asking me to post back the wrong item (the Snow White polish).
I then replied to this asking if I could get my postage refunded as sending back the polish would come at a cost to me and also enquiring as to when I could expect my new Buff Pink.
I got a reply back a short while after telling me to keep the Snow White as their apology and that my Buff Pink is on its way! Needless to say I was pleased.

So that has now been resolved and my replacement Buff Pink should be with me in a few days. (I'll be sure to make a post when it does.)

From left to right my Models Own order:
              • 3in1 Base Coat, Top Coat & Gloss
              • Snow White
              • Nail Art Pen in Black
              • Coral Reef
              • Jade Stone

Now completely off the topic of Nail Polishes - My Sister got her GCSE results yesterday.
She did so well and I am soooooo unbelievably proud of her for it.
She got the grades she needed to get into her Sixth Form and to do all the subjects she wanted for A-Level.

Although now I do feel bloody old, I mean my baby sister is doing her A-Levels for crying out loud!!
