Packed My Bags & Leaving On A Jet Plane

//Just a couple of my checklists (excuse the nail polish splatters) - Don't want to forget anything now!//
So its only 1 more sleep! Tomorrow is the day & I'm finally finished packing as of 5 minutes ago.
My original plan for a detailed series of packing checklists didn't quite go to plan, so instead I offer you some shots of my packing for an 18 day Easter trip to California along with a few helpful hints & tips.

//Toiletry bag full of shampoos, conditioners, body butter, hair products etc//
//The clothes & attire that made the final cut//

Since we're travelling in late March/early April I've gone for the layering approach with regards to clothes. Vest tops & shorts with thin sweaters and shirts to go over the top for an evening if there's a bit of a chill.
There's a couple of pairs of long trousers in there since the mother has been having a panic about what to take because she can't even imagine it not being winter anywhere, bless her.

//Carry on goodies//
//Make-up, electricals & some of the 'essentials'//
The contents of my carry on luggage is your pretty standard stuff:

  • Purse
  • Laptop
  • iPod
  • Kindle
  • Make-up
  • Liquid bag containing moisturiser, mouthwash, hand sanitizer, fresh wipes.
  • Bag of pills & medicines in case of emergency (no one wants to suffer a pressure headache for 10 hours!)
  • Jewellery wrap (the cream purse) - a gift for my last birthday, has come in incredibly handy for transporting all my accessories

And now for the bags its all going in...

//Spotted wheelie holdall (New Look, approx. £20)//Striped rucksack (Primark, £9)//
I always like to do a bag within a bag kind of thing so that way once I'm through security I can whip out the smaller bag containing the essentials such as purse, phone & iPod & head off to the duty free.
Obviously I don't just abandon the bigger bag, it's left in the safe care of the family members protecting our seats in the lounge :)

So, there you have it. A little glance into how I pack for when I'm travelling long haul.
I'll probably not be blogging much while I'm actually out there although I will be posting snaps to Instagram pretty regularly so if you wish to follow me over there I'm robyinatree

Hope every one has a good Easter break & Bank Holiday weekend & I'll see y'all real soon :)

Weekly Roundup 24/03/13: All Grown Up

So there was no weekly roundup last week as I had 2 assignments due. Both of which I failed to start until the week before they were due. Yes, I'm a terrible student, I know.

After my sleep deprived self recovered from said assignments, it was time to get packed up & ready to go home to the Powell Cave for my baby sister's birthday and the final stages of holiday prep.

Obviously the biggest event of the week was Sophie's 18th, which took place on the Friday. Still can't believe that she can now legally go out in to pubs and clubs and get herself a drink.
Naturally as the older sibling I was responsible for taking her out to get her first drink, but before that it was off out for the traditional Powell family birthday meal at Simply Blues.
After an amazing meal it was back home for a quick change and touch up and then off the pub!
I think I gave her a good first night out on the town with the help of some of her friends and luckily escaped without too bad of a hangover on Saturday (although the cooked breakfast & Domino's we had probably helped there).

And as for today it has mostly consisted of holiday sorting, aka me pairing down my clothes so as not to pack my entire wardrobe, and the standard Sunday roast.
As I said before, I shall be working on some posts relating to holiday, travel checklists and the like, so stick around and as always thanks for reading.

Ciao for now!

Holiday 2013: A sign of things to come

So at the end of this month the rest of the Powells and myself will be off to California!
As a result I thought I'd do a series of posts all about what to pack, what to wear etc in relation to going on holiday (specifically in California obviously).

I am absolutely obsessed when it comes to making/finding/reading travel checklists and figured that I might as well share my own with you as I go through the loooong process of packing for a 3 week vacation.

Hopefully you'll all enjoy reading them as much as I will making them.

So keep your eyes peeled now!

For all the Mums out there...

Happy Mother's Day :)

Don't Forget - It's not all about gifts or Hallmark cards, it's about letting that special lady in your life know just how much they are loved & appreciated.

I couldn't ask for a better mum myself, she's thoughtful, kind, always knows just what to say. And I absolutely love her for it!

Mummy Powell <3

But why let it just be one day a year...Tell her every day!

Weekly Roundup 03/03/13: Birthdays, Brighton, & Bruises

So this week was far more eventful than last.
It kicked off with a series of all nighters to get an ethics essay done which nearly killed me.
But then the week got a whole lot more fun since it was my former housemate's 21st.
Only done went to Brighton didn't we!
The Girls and I were there from Thursday to Saturday and got up to all sorts of mischief.
On Thursday night alone I successfully managed to:

  • Make friends with a fabulous guy who told me I smell nice in the cloakroom queue
  • Slip over at least 20 times and bust up my knee hilariously (it's got such an ugly purpley/yellowish bruise right now)
  • Dance to the Harlem Shake and Thrift Shop like a crazy person
And best of all:
  • LEAVE WITH £40 STILL LEFT IN MA PURSE
The next day consisted of more drinking, partying, and takeaway food, leading to a very hungover 2 and a half hour train ride home on Saturday.

Now as far today goes, I slept in till 11 which was sooo needed and then went to town to go grab some bits for the care package I'm making my lovely mummy for Mother's Day.
And about 3 hours ago I enjoyed an amazing roast dinner.
I bought the £3.50 Roast Chicken Joint from Iceland and oh my lord is was so buttery and delicious.
Plus now I've got loads of leftover chicken for tomorrow. Bargain!

Hope everybody else has had lovely weeks and I'll see y'all real soon.
It's so good to be blogging again!
